Why we built it
AfterNine started with a frustration that anyone who has tried to use an existing directory will recognise. The category is dominated by sites that monetise visibility above everything else — auctioned-up placements, fake reviews, abandoned profiles, hostile interfaces, and a steady erosion of any signal that helped a serious client find a serious companion.
We wanted somewhere editorial. Somewhere that felt designed instead of scaffolded. Somewhere where verification meant something, where photos belonged to the person they portrayed, and where the people on both sides of a booking were treated as adults.
Our approach
Every provider on AfterNine is reviewed before their profile becomes visible. Photos pass through a verification check; the people we list are the people you'll meet. We don't sell promoted placements that obscure who is actually active in a city — the featured strip runs on a transparent auction, and the rest of the directory ranks by recency.
We build the product in small, considered increments. New features ship when they're ready, not on a roadmap deadline. We're a small team and we plan to stay that way.

Independent companions who want a presence that reflects the care they put into their work, and the clients who want to find them without wading through pop-ups and stale listings.

What we stand by
- Discretion. Private data stays private. We don't index profiles for search engines beyond what advertisers explicitly opt into.
- Consent. Photos are watermarked at upload. We act on credible takedown notices the same day we receive them.
- No dark patterns. No engagement tricks, no growth-hack popups, no notifications you didn't ask for.
- Independence. We're privately funded and not for sale. Decisions get made by the people who run the product.
